My newest article, a longform nonfiction piece on the trend of Chinese students studying in the U.S.A., is now up at The Big Roundtable. Featuring profiles of four Chinese students – all four of whom are now studying at American universities – the article delves into the nuanced reasons why students study abroad. I discuss the challenges of standardized testing in China, as well as the aspirations of a new generation of students who are seeking opportunities that fit their skills and personalities. It’s a challenge to the media narratives that frame China as an enemy, and I hope it interests and engages debate on the issue of international education. Please take some time to read and enjoy the article here.
