In 2026, I am launching a monthly Substack newsletter dedicated to close reading and response to books. Rich Text: Writing on Reading is a newsletter for readers, but also for anyone who wants to get thoughtful about our relationship with each other through literature. Each month, I’ll read and review a book, reflect on themes and ideas, and relate it to events and ideas in the larger world. Books will range from nonfiction to genre fiction, poetry to kid’s lit — the throughline will be a thoughtful, narrative-based response to story, a mini-personal essay grounded in whatever ideas the book brings up.
